FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does the boat depart from?

  • During our summer season from May to October for the Ocean Adventure tours, Nature Cruises and Blue Whale Watching, we sell tickets and board from our private dock in the Redondo Beach Marina at 131 International Boardwalk between the Fun Factory Arcade and Kincaids Restaurant on the North side of the Redondo Pier.
  • From December through April, we depart from Redondo Beach Sports Fishing Pier • 233 North Harbor Dr • Redondo Beach, CA 90277, (310) 372-2111

Q: Do you validate parking?

Yes, only for the Redondo Beach Marina Parking lot; not the Redondo Pier or the Pier Plaza parking lots. With a validation stamp, parking is reduced to only $4.00 for 4 hours. Bring your parking ticket with you to the boat ticket office/booth for a validation stamp as you purchase your boarding pass.

Q: Are there refreshments on the boat?

We have a light snack bar with sodas, water, chips and candy on board at affordable prices. You may bring a bag lunch, snacks or special dietary needs on board, but please, no large coolers.

Q: How early should I arrive?

We recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes early as there is no assigned seating and the first in line gets the best option of seating.

Q: What should I wear on the boat?

We recommend you bring a jacket and wear layers as it is cooler on the water. Also wear flat, rubber-soled shoes as you are on a moving platform. A hat and sunscreen are recommended as well as polarized sunglasses that will help you see underwater better.

Q: What will we see on the trip?

We do not guarantee sightings but our success rate is very high. We typically see Gray whales on their annual migration from December-April, and Blue whales from August-October within a few miles from our harbor. A variety of dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals and numerous marine birds are spotted throughout the season. We may also see other types of whales including Humpbacks, Fin, Minke, Sperm and Orcas in our local waters.

Q: What time do the trips depart?

Please call or check the website for updated schedules as the times may change due to unknown circumstances. We typically run our 2 ½-3 hour whale watching trips from Dec.-April & Aug.-Oct. at 10AM and 1:30PM and ocean adventure cruises during the summer on weekends and holidays starting at 1PM until sunset.
